Jenny Leigh Smith is an Assistant Professor of History in the School of History, Technology and Society at Georgia Tech. She earned her PhD in 2006 from MIT and was a postdoctoral associate at Yale University before joining the faculty at Georgia Tech.

Her current research explores the environmental effects of agricultural industrialization in the Soviet Union and the effects of Cold War agricultural policies on Soviet cultures of cooking and eating.

She is also interested in the environmental impact of industrial development on the Soviet Arctic.
