About
I am a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Tech. I completed my Ph.D. in English at Saint Louis University, where I was Director of the Writing Program's Computer Assisted Instruction Lab. I specialize in what might be called American Cultural Rhetoric, a broad-based course of study that allows me to pursue my interests in American literature and culture as well as rhetorical theory and composition studies. Generally speaking, I examine the production and reception of 20th-century American cultural texts, including fiction, memoir, film, popular culture and history. An undergraduate English major recently asked me what my approach to literature was, and I told her that I try to show how literature illuminates history and history illuminates literature.
